rubber.jpg (52782 bytes) Grinding or shredding of various polymers is but another of the manufacturing capabilities at E. C. Morris Corp. Particle size reduction of elastomeric, thermoplastic, and thermoset compounds may be reduced from a starting size as large as standard 75 pound bales and reduced to a particle size of 500 microns or less. By utilizing ambient temperature technology in the grinding process, particle size requirements can be met in spite of the heat sensitive nature of these materials.

To aid in preventing agglomeration of post ground material, parting agents are injected at various stages of the process. Typical agents used are calcium carbonate and mistron vapor talc. Should the customer require a specific custom parting agent for his product, it can normally be utilized in place of the standard ingredients.

Occasionally, the need arises for the product to be blended at a certain ratio with other chemicals. The production line at E. C. Morris Corp. allows for this feature. Samples are drawn and tested periodically to insure that the correct mixture is being attained. Statistical Process Control methodology is used in this regard. A metal detector is used to keep metal particles out of the finished product.

Once the product has been ground and/or mixed to specifications, custom bagging then takes place. All products are pre-weighed and bagged as required. Retention samples are logged in and any special labeling or marking is applied to the shipping containers.

Throughout the grinding process, safety and hygiene are both stressed and practiced. E. C. Morris Corp. maintains an excellent record in the safety arena and is committed to insuring that all operations abide by OSHA and any applicable regulations.
